The Latino Alcohol and Health Disparities Research Center would like to invite you to our first EPCCSCD Motivational Interviewing Learning Community of Practice, which provides you an opportunity to practice and sharpen the MI skills you have acquired throughout your MI trainings. This Learning Community has been organized particularly for the EPCCSCD staff who were recognized with Certificates of Competence or Proficiency between May 2017 and February 2018. This Learning Community will form a smaller, closed group setting to provide you and your peers an intimate opportunity to receive in-person coaching and feedback from your LAHDR trainers and coaches.
In the Learning Community practice groups, you will have the option to practice two types of scenarios. The first option would be to practice a “ROLE-play,” where one person would volunteer to play the role of a client from your setting. The second option, which is preferred, would be to practice a “REAL-play.” So, come prepared with ideas on something you might personally be ambivalent about changing, in case you would like to volunteer to be the “client” during our practice rounds.
This Learning Community group will plan to meet every 4 weeks. Registering for this event will not commit you to future meetings.
